Matti Orpana has more than 50 years experience with the design of air and tensile structures, beginning with his employment in 1974 with Oy Rukka, Helsinki, as supervisor for air halls and other technical projects.

He soon became responsible for managing all the company’s projects in Finland and abroad. He moved to Kokkola in 1982 as product manager and later became product development manager for Weldex, as a spinn-off of Rukka’s technical department.

In 1989, Matti Orpana started his own design firm Tensotech Consulting. Matti Orpana has designed numerous small, medium sized and large tensile structures.

Matti Orpana has also served as design and structural consultant to many
architectural firms on various large membrane structures throughout Scandinavia.
