Dipl.-Ing. Architekt Nikolai Kugel

Nikolai Kugel was educated at the University of Stuttgart, graduating in 1997. As assistant professor at the „Institut für Tragkonstruktionen und konstruktives Entwerfen“ (institute for structural design) he expanded his engineering design knowledge and focussed on teaching students. As visiting lecturer at the “Akademie der Bildenden Künste” in Stuttgart (academy of applied arts) he taught structural engineering for architects (2000-2007). In 2014 he started teaching lightweight design at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences.

As self-employed architect he primarily specialized on membrane buildings and lightweight structures, operating internationally. To date, he also designed several retractable membrane roofing structures, comprising successfully executed projects in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Austria and Sweden.

In 2015 he became founding member in the architectural practice arch22 bogenrieder crumbach kugel, Stuttgart.
