Lea Zimmermann

Lea Zimmermann is PhD Student at the German Institutes of Textile and Fiber Research and doctoral fellow of the Ingeborg Gross Foundation, Germany.

Her scientific focus is on the functionalisation of technical textiles in fields like architecture and medicine.

Her current PhD study is about the „Investigation of sustainable and energy-free cooling solutions based on radiative cooling technologies using the universe as a heat sink in connection with coated textiles for possible applications in membrane architecture“.

  • 2020 graduation: Technical University Dresden, M.Sc. Textile Machinery and High-performance Materials (fka. textile & clothing technology)
  • 2021 Start of doctoral studies at the German Institutes for Textile and Fibre Research in the Competence Centre Textile Chemistry, Environment, Energy, funded by the Ingeborg Gross Foundation
  • In between studies gaining experience during different internships in various application areas such as medical textiles (Hartmann Group and FEG Textiltechnik) or the automotive industry (BMW Group)
