Dr.-Ing. Richard Müller
Expert Presentation
Dr.-Ing. Richard Müller of Dresden, Germany, decided to pick up his studies of mechanical engineering in 2007 at the Technical University of Dresden. From various available fields of specialization in 2009 he decided to immerse himself into the world of textile engineering, fascinated by the wide range of textile products itself that influence our everyday lives and by the variety in types and scale of the machinery used to produce these. During his studies he already had the chance to work on various projects regarding fiber reinforced composite materials, ranging from concrete to plastics, and their making.
After completing practical periods at Freudenberg (Weinheim) dealing with process optimization in nonwoven production in 2011 and Yeti (Görlitz) for outdoor product development in 2012 he returned to Freudenberg to write his Diploma and PhD theses about the analysis and optimization of different steps of Gas Diffusion Layer production for PEM fuel cells.
Searching for new challenges afterwards and in want of a more back-to-the-textile-roots practical occupation in 2017 he then joined Ettlin, a spinning and weaving company connecting innovation and tradition while creating new and fascinating woven products, to become head of the R&D department.
