Jean-Christophe Thomas

Université de Nantes

Jean-Christophe Thomas studied mechanics at the Centrale Nantes engineering school. He started working on inflatable beams during his PhD at the University of Nantes.  He is  Associate Professor at the Faculty of Science and Technology in Nantes and conducts his research at the GeM laboratory. He has participated in many projects on pneumatic structures in statics, dynamics, and for applications in climatic wind tunnels. He develops analytical, numerical and experimental approaches. He has also participated in projects on flexible piezoelectric actuators for energy recovery. He is in charge of the Master 1 in numerical mechanics and reliability at the University of Nantes. He is a member of the CENTC250 WG5 working group on structural membranes whose objective is to write the Eurocode dedicated to tensioned membrane structures and he is responsible for the Tensinet working group on pneumatic structures.
