Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Architect Cornelius Schlotthauer, Germany
Keynote Lecturer, Architect at studio matthiessen schlotthauer
Cornelius Schlotthauer is founding member of the architecture office „studio schlotthauer matthiessen – architecturemade„. Together with his partner Mirjam Matthiessen, Cornelius plans and implements challenging projects for leisure, sport, infrastructure and living. He places a focus on the holistic development of projects from the first concept draft to the execution drawings and construction. In recent years, Cornelius has been particularly concerned with the digital design of geometrically complex facade and roof structures and their production by using computer-controlled planning and manufacturing methods.
Exemplary for this approach the three cable car stations in Olang / South Tyrol that have recently been completed can be cited.
In addition, Cornelius also holds the professorship for design and digital construction at the University of Applied Sciences Aachen.
Before opening his own studio, Cornelius Schlotthauer worked for Zaha Hadid Architects for many years. First in London and Leipzig, then in Hamburg, where he set up Zaha Hadid’s branch office and managed it as a senior associate. He also worked as a project manager and project director. In this role, Cornelius Schlotthauer led several competitions and projects to success and execution, including the award-winning Reinhold Messner Museum „MMM Corones“ or the „Library and Learning Centre“ of the Vienna University of Economics and Business.
