Bernd Stimpfle studied Civil Engineering at the University of Stuttgart, with one-year stay at the INSA in Lyon. From 1992 to 1998 he was Project Engineer and Project Manager at IPL Ingenieurplanung Leichtbau GmbH, in 1999 Head of Engineering at Birdair Europe Stromeyer and from 2000 to 2004 Managing Director of IPL Ingenieurplanung Leichtbau GmbH. Since 2004 he has been Managing partner at formTL ingenieure für tragwerk und leichtbau gmbh. He is member of the Ingenieurkammer Baden-Württemberg, works on the NABau-Committee (CEN/TC 250/WG 5; Membrane Structures). Since 2013 he has been chair of the network for textile architecture TensiNet.
